Mike Carey Announces Bid for State Senate

Iron Mt., MI-

Today, Mike Carey of Iron Mt., MI announced his campaign for Michigan’s 38th Senate District. The district includes each of the following counties in the Upper Peninsula: Alger, Baraga, Delta, Dickinson, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, Keweenaw, Marquette, Menominee, Ontonagon, and Schoolcraft. Mike hopes to bring his unique brand of Yooper conservatism to the place he’s called home all of his life.

“I’m excited to continue pounding the pavement and earning your vote to represent the 38th District,” Carey said. Carey’s campaign will focus on issues such as school safety, fiscal responsibility, and promotion of the Upper Peninsula’s unmatched natural resources. “We are the luckiest people alive thanks to the pristine and bountiful land we live in. It is truly God’s country, and we are its stewards.” Carey places great emphasis on promoting the U.P.’s bountiful resources so that the next generations of Yoopers can enjoy the same advantages he has.

In order give them the future our children deserve, not only must we protect their land, but ensure their safety as well. “Without our children, there is no future. Their safety is of the utmost importance. Everyone in the U.P. must work together to safeguard the most vulnerable among us. I will work with parents and the school administrations to create a solution that fits each individual community’s need.”

Carey then went on to add, “Excessive spending and regulation at all levels of government will starve our communities. We must reign it in, otherwise success will escape future generations.” Mike Carey’s campaign can be summed up in four words: preserve, protect, promote, and prosper.

Mike is a 7th generation Yooper. He resides in Iron Mt. with his wife of three decades, Colleen. Together, they raised their four children Katie, Alex, Luke, and Sam who have gone on to study at various Michigan universities, or serve in the Air Force. Mike works as a contractor in Iron Mt.
